Girls in IT

Promoting gender balance in the workplace requires encouraging more girls to enter technical fields. Ensuring equality in the workplace is a fundamental human right and aligns with United Nations values. This can be achieved by providing equal access to opportunities, resources, and rewards for both genders. To achieve this, women should be given the chance to excel in fields traditionally considered as male-dominated. With the growth of the tech and digital industry, it is important to tap into the talents and ideas of all individuals. To address this issue, we need to start by providing equal opportunities to young girls, and we have developed an interactive board game to introduce them to the technical field.

Ready to scale solution:

Girls in IT is a board game that guides young women in exploring popular IT & C professions and making informed career choices through a fun, gamified experience. It addresses the issue of workplace gender balance by encouraging more girls to pursue technical fields.

The project methodology for the Girls in IT board game utilizes an Arduino robot to randomly generate numbers for players, replacing the traditional dice. This allows for a unique and interactive user experience while promoting concepts of women empowerment and gender equality through non-formal education and experiential learning.

The objectives of the game include:

  • Encouraging girls to pursue a career in a technical field
  • Introducing young people to popular and in-demand professions in the field of IT & C
  • Providing guidance and support for building a basic profile needed to pursue a future career in the industry

The game is designed to be an engaging and interactive way to introduce young women to the world of IT & C and provide them with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to succeed in the industry.
